Information

The bridge is an object with functional structure, which was integrated into its surroundings and was meant to be walked on. The interlaced structure with different elements was inserted into each other to reflect the process of joining. Like a grid of molecules it links the two banks of the river.

The foot bridge across the Prollingbach, a walkway across the weir, is part of a general concept for redesigning the blacksmiths' district of Ybbsitz. I felt particularly challenged by the fact that I could turn this object into a functional structure, which was integrated into its surroundings and was meant to be walked on. I created an interlaced structure with different elements inserted into each other to reflect the process of joining. Like a grid of molecules it links the two banks of the river. The supporting structure consists of steel girders, the railing has been designed artistically using 4mm thin metal sheets. It is both conic and U-shaped. The contact points have been welded and the surface is galvanized.
