Information

For the open-air rural setting Michael Kienzer designed a sports field with a basin-like surface set into the ground 45cm deep. Instead of advertising text on the strips, they were envisaged to carry the day's headlines.
The realisation of this concept was hindered due to health and safety concerns.

The design by Michael Kienzer for the green area represents a sports field set into the earth. It is a second level, sunk approximately 45cm, a delimited field (24m x 11m), which could, taking a practical approach, be used for example as a games field. The walls are bordered by the strip banners usually found at sports grounds, yet instead of displaying paid advertisements they are covered with headlines from the daily chronicle, whereby the topicality of arts events becomes rather dubious after only a few days. Due to building regulations, this concept was not implemented, despite having received a recommendation from the specialist committee.
