Information

A 5m deep and 12.5m high space has been created between the glazed entrance façade and the horizontal articulation of the individual levels. Gabriele Kutschera has hung hand-worked, interlocking, circular wrought iron elements that progress from 30cm to a maximum of 100cm in diameter from the ceiling in this space.

Essentially, a chain is a movable sequence of interlocking but themselves closed elements.
Its function is a supporting, connecting, holding one – although it can also be associated with chaining-up, with the deprivation of liberty. As it is a local authority office building that houses various culture departments on the individual levels, any further explanation of the symbolism is unnecessary
